Creator Controlled Tokens — Pause Trading, Ban Regions, Chat & Voting | TradePesa

Creator Controlled Tokens
on TradePesa

A token creator can choose to keep real power over the token they created — pause trading, restrict regions, run a community chat, and let holders vote. Here's exactly how it works.

What "Creator Controlled" Actually Means

When you create a token on TradePesa, you can check a box for "Creator Controlled." It's a one-time choice made at creation — there's no switching a token to Creator Controlled later. If you check it, you get five extra powers over that specific token that a normal token creator doesn't have. If you leave it unchecked, your token just trades normally: no special panel, no extra powers, no added advantage for you as the creator.

A user can have at most one Creator Controlled token and two normal tokens at a time. The first time you view a Creator Controlled token while trading, you'll see a short one-time risk notice summarizing everything on this page.

The Five Creator Powers

Every one of these is opt-in and only applies to a token created with Creator Controlled checked.

⏸️

Pause & Resume Buying / Selling

The creator (or a moderator they appoint) can pause buying, pause selling, or pause both instantly — and resume either side just as fast. Anyone viewing the token sees a clear "Buying/Selling Paused" badge, and an attempted trade is rejected with an explanation, not a silent failure.

🌍

Regional Restrictions

The creator can restrict specific countries from trading their token. A trader is blocked if either their profile's country or their current IP address geolocates to a restricted country. A blocked trader won't see that token in their listings and can't open a new position. If they already hold a balance, they can always still sell and exit — a restriction never traps existing holders.

Checked two independent ways: your profile's country (or your phone number's country code as a fallback), and your current IP address's location — blocked if either one matches.
💬

Token Chat

A live chat attached to the token, where anyone trading or holding it can talk to other holders. The creator or a moderator can post pinned announcements and moderate the conversation (pin, unpin, or remove messages).

🗳️

Holder Voting

The creator can post a proposal — a plain-language title and description of something they're considering. Only current holders of the token can vote yes, no, or abstain, weighted by how many tokens they hold. A proposal resolves to passed or failed once it crosses the required approval percentage, or once its voting window ends.

Voting is advisory — it signals what holders want. It doesn't automatically execute anything; the creator decides what to do with the result.
🛡️

Appoint Moderators

The creator can appoint up to 3 moderators for their token. A moderator shares the creator's power to pause/resume buying and selling, and to moderate the token chat — but only the creator can set regional restrictions or create voting proposals.

Creator Controlled vs Normal Token

Choosing Creator Controlled is a trade-off, not a strict upgrade — it's about how much say the creator keeps over the token after launch.

What Creator Controlled Does Not Do

We'd rather you know the real limits upfront than find out later.

⚠️ Straight talk on the limits of this feature

  • It does not give the creator access to anyone's funds or balances. These powers only ever affect the token's trading status, region rules, chat, and proposals — never other users' money.
  • Passed votes are not automatically carried out. Voting is a signal from holders to the creator, not a binding, self-executing action. The creator still has to act on it.
  • Region restriction checks two independent signals — your profile's country (or phone number's country code as a fallback) and your current IP address's location — and blocks you if either one matches a restricted country. If neither signal can be determined at all, trading is allowed by default rather than blocked.
  • Moderators can pause/resume trading and moderate chat, same as the creator — but only the creator can set regional restrictions, create proposals, or appoint/remove moderators.
  • A restriction can never trap you. If you already hold a restricted token, you can always sell/exit — only new buying is blocked.
  • Creator Controlled is a one-time choice. You can't turn it on for a token after it's already created without Creator Controlled checked.

Common Questions

What does "Creator Controlled" mean on TradePesa?
It's an option you choose when creating a token. It gives you (the creator) extra powers over that specific token: pausing/resuming buying or selling, restricting countries, enabling a token chat, and letting holders vote on proposals. Skip it, and your token just trades normally with no special powers for you.
Can a token creator pause buying or selling at will?
Yes, on a Creator Controlled token. The creator or an appointed moderator can pause buying, pause selling, or pause both instantly, and resume either side just as fast. Everyone sees a clear paused badge, and any attempted trade gets a clear explanation instead of failing silently.
Can a creator block specific countries from trading their token?
Yes. A trader is blocked if either their profile's country or their current IP address geolocates to a restricted country — checking both closes the obvious loophole of just changing your profile country. Restricted traders won't see that token in their listings and can't open new positions. Existing holders from a restricted country can always still sell and exit — a restriction never traps someone already holding the token.
Can a token creator appoint moderators?
Yes — the creator can appoint up to 3 moderators. A moderator shares the creator's power to pause/resume buying and selling and to moderate the token chat. Only the creator can set regional restrictions, create voting proposals, or appoint/remove moderators.
How does token chat work?
If the creator enables it, anyone trading or holding the token can chat with other holders on the token's page. The creator or a moderator can post pinned announcements and moderate messages.
How does holder voting work, and who can vote?
The creator posts a proposal (a title and description). Only current holders of the token can vote yes, no, or abstain — weighted by how many tokens they hold. A proposal resolves once it crosses its required approval percentage, or once the voting window ends. Voting is advisory: it doesn't automatically execute anything, it's a signal for the creator to act on.
Is Creator Controlled required when creating a token?
No — it's entirely optional. Without it, your token trades normally with no special powers for you. You can have at most one Creator Controlled token and two normal tokens at a time.
